WINEMAKER - Catrina North

Catrina joined our Galer Estate Family in 2010, driving cross-country from the wine world of northern California. She has 10 years of winemaking experience, having worked in wineries in New York, Washington, and Australia. Most recently Catrina was an enologist at Wente Family Estates in California for over 2 years.

She is a graduate of Gettysburg College with a dual degree in Biology and Environmental Studies. She received Enology and Winemaking Professional Certificates after comple-ting 2 separate two year programs at Washington State University. In addition, Catrina attended the world famous Charles Sturt University, School of Wine and Food Science in Australia.

John

WINE CONSULTANT - John Irving Levenberg

Heralded as one of the top young winemakers in North America, John has been our winemaker since 2008. John is originally from Los Angeles and obtained his master's degree in Viticulture and Enology at the world-famous UC-Davis Program.

His experience is second to none. He was Associate Winemaker at Paul Hobbs Winery in California and learned his trade of east-coast winemaking at the premiere Long Island Bedell Winery. He has also held winemaking positions at Chateau Quinault (St. Emilion, France), Cuvaison (Napa), Clos LaChance (Santa Cruz, CA) and Te Whare Ra (Marlborough, New Zealand).

John’s awards are many and growing. While at Paul Hobbs, over 20 of John's wines earned scores of "92 points" and higher from Robert Parker and Wine Spectator. When in Bordeaux region of France his wine, L'Absolut de Quinault, was rated as one of the Top 3 wines of the 2002 vintage. When winemaking in New Zealand, John's wines were the first-ever awards for one of Marlborough's oldest wineries, including the best of vintage distinction for his 1998 Gewürztraminer. VINEYARD MANAGER -Jan Grimes

Jan has been an integral family member since 2005, even before we planted our first vines. She is a Penn State Agriculture graduate and completed a 2 year Washington State Professional Certificate Viticulture Program. During peak times of the growing season, she manages upwards of 12 vineyard workers. Jan’s energy, enthusiasm, and passion is seen everyday in the vineyard. Jan@galerestate.com

Alicia Lyons is in charge of all of the sales and marketing at Galer Estate. Please call Alicia if you are booking a special tour of the winery or if you would like any information about our hours of operation, music evenings in the tasting room, special food pairings or art evenings. Alicia also heads up off site sales for corporate and non-profit events and Friday Nights Under the Stars at the Polo Fields.

FOUNDER- Brad Galer, MD

Brad is a wine lover and entrepreneur. He is a world renowned authority in the field of pain medicine and topical analgesic drug development, having been instrumental in the successes of many pain medications, such as Lidoderm Patch and Pennsaid. Currently, he is President of Nuvo Research’s Pain Group. Dr. Galer has published over 200 scientific articles and book chapters on pain management. He has co-authored the books “Clinical Guide to Neuropathic Pain" and “Defeating Chronic Pain” for patients. In addition, he is lead singer for the pop-punk rock band, The Pharmers. He and his college sweetheart, Lele, aim to bring high quality winemaking and a unique wine experience to Pennsylvania

Co-FOUNDER- Lele Galer

Lele helped design the look of the winery and tasting room and is active in the arts, local non-profits and educational programs in the community. She designs the labels and finds wonderful friends to help work together at Galer Estate. She and Brad have been married for 25 years, have three wonderful grown boys, and hope to continue to make great wine together with the team for many years to come.

VITICULTURE CONSULTANT - Lucie Morton Garrett

Lucie Morton is a world-reknown expert in the vineyard. She obtained her degree in Montpelier France and has since consulted for some of the best vineyards in the world in France, New Zealand, Napa, and Sonoma. Being a native Virginian, her heart and sole remains in the US mid-Atlantic region. These mid-Atlantic vine-yards for which she consults are winning awards and accolades, such as Black Ankle in Maryland and Karamoor in Fort Washington PA.
